Release Log

A small round of corrections: the Dawn Maloney announcement carries its correct date again, the editor sign-in page is no longer reachable on the public production site, the Nurse Review page's contact button now opens the form with Nurse Review already selected, and sending a message through either contact form now counts as a measurable lead in the site's analytics.

• FixedThe Dawn Maloney announcement carries its own date, 8 September, on the card and in the release itself. The site published it a day earlier, on the 7th, and had been showing that date instead — a wire release is dated the day the wire carries it, not the day the site posts it.
• FixedThe editor sign-in page no longer appears on the public, production version of the site. Nobody could have signed in through it there — production has no editing surface at all — but it was answering as if it might.
• ImprovedThe Nurse Review page's Contact Us button now takes visitors straight to a form with Nurse Review already selected, matching every other service page. The option had never been added to the form.

Launch

The new CareReview website replaced the previous one at www.carereview.com, and a news section for press releases went live with it.

• AddedA news section. Each press release has its own page, and the index lists them with a photo, a category and a short summary.
• AddedPress releases can be written and dated in advance. One appears on the site on the date it carries, without anyone needing to publish it that day.
• ImprovedA press release shared in a message or on social media shows a CareReview preview card with its headline and summary, rather than a bare address.
• ImprovedThe URAC and HITRUST seals on the About Us page link to the bodies that award them.

HubSpot is connected. The contact page now uses a HubSpot form in place of the site's own, and HubSpot's visitor tracking joins Google Analytics behind the same cookie choice.

• ImprovedThe contact page now uses a HubSpot form. Enquiries go straight into HubSpot rather than arriving by email, so they are picked up in one place alongside everything else recorded there. The phone number, LinkedIn and the postal address are unchanged.
• AddedHubSpot's visitor tracking, switched off until a visitor allows analytics — the same choice that covers Google Analytics. Because that choice now covers two companies rather than one, anyone who has already answered the cookie notice will be asked once more.
• ImprovedThe contact form itself loads for everyone, whatever they choose about cookies. A form is how someone gets in touch, and putting a cookie question in front of the only way to reach us would not have been a real choice. The Google map on that page still waits to be allowed, as before.

A round of work on the contact form and a careful pass over the Resources guides. The form asks for less, marks what it actually needs, and routes enquiries about a service to the team that handles them. The guides say more precisely what CareReview does, and the guide to independent review organisations finally contains the explanation its own introduction promised.

• AddedThe guide to independent review organisations now explains external review: what it is, when federal law gives a member the right to one, how fully insured and self-insured plans differ, and what URAC accreditation does — and does not — cover. The page had been promising that explanation in its opening line without containing it.
• ImprovedWording across the Resources guides is more careful about what CareReview does and does not decide. A review now documents its finding for the payer rather than governing the payment decision, a determination is described by how well it is documented rather than by the outcome it produces, and claims that could not be evidenced have been narrowed or dropped.
• ImprovedThe Medicare Part D guide no longer quotes a dollar threshold that CMS resets every year, describing how the threshold works instead. It cannot quietly go out of date on a fixed calendar date now.
• ImprovedThe homepage's third hero button reads Talk to Us, and the contact page no longer lists an Email Us link — the phone number, LinkedIn, the postal address and the form itself are unchanged.
• ImprovedThe contact form asks for less. Only an email address, a subject and a message are required — a name, job title and organisation are welcome but optional — and the three that are required are now marked as such. On a phone, Title and Organisation each take the full width rather than being squeezed side by side.
• ImprovedEnquiries about a particular service can now be delivered to a dedicated inbox, with general and careers enquiries continuing to the main address. Anything that does not name a service goes to the main address, so nothing falls between the two.
• ImprovedThe contact form no longer asks visitors to answer “what colour is the sky?” before writing to a healthcare company. Spam is handled out of sight instead, including refusing submissions completed faster than anyone could have typed them.
• ImprovedThe Adam Schilling announcement follows the final approved version of the release, with the dateline, his new title and the CareReview tagline set in bold, and the media contact laid out as it is in the document.

CareReview's News section publishes its first post, and the homepage now offers three ways in rather than two. The Blog becomes News, the Who We Serve overview returns after being withdrawn in the last release, and a link that had stopped working on Accreditations & Compliance is a link again. The unreleased site is no longer reachable by search engines.

• AddedThe first News post: CareReview names Adam Schilling Chief Growth Officer. The announcement has its own reading layout — a category label, a centred headline, a portrait, and the About and media-contact details set apart at the end as a footnote.
• AddedThe News index lists posts as tall picture cards. Each shows the post's own photograph, category, headline, opening summary and date, and the whole card is the link.
• ImprovedThe Our Values artwork on the About page is the new version CareReview supplied, now on a dark band. Its lettering is drawn in four colours that were never legible against the previous green — two of the nine values had all but disappeared.
• FixedSpacing around headings in the Resources articles, the legal pages and the News post. A heading sat almost as far from the section it introduces as from the one it ends, which made the rhythm of every article read as arbitrary.
• FixedDeploys stopped part-way through whenever a page had been renamed, leaving the site's content half-updated. Renames now complete on their own.
• AddedGoogle Analytics, switched off until a visitor allows it. Analytics is now a third choice on the cookie notice alongside embedded content, and because the choices have changed, anyone who already answered will be asked once more. Nothing is requested from Google until the choice is made, and turning it back off stops reporting straight away without a page reload. It runs on the live site only — staging traffic is the people building the site, and counting it would inflate every figure.
• ImprovedThe Who We Serve overview is back in the navigation and reachable again. It was withdrawn in the previous release; nothing was lost while it was away, and the six audience pages beneath it were never affected.
• ImprovedThe homepage opens with three invitations instead of two — Go to Solutions, Meet the Team, and Talk to Us — each presented as a red button.
• AddedA Meet the Team button at the end of the About page's history section, so the founding story leads directly to the people it describes.
• ImprovedThe Blog is now called News throughout, including its web address and how it is described to search engines.
• FixedThe Trust Center on Accreditations & Compliance is a working link again. It had been saved as ordinary text, so the address was displayed rather than followed.
• FixedThe unreleased site was reachable by Google, despite being marked not to be: an instruction added by the hosting provider was overriding the site's own. Search engines are now told to stay out in a way that cannot be overridden, and the editors' sign-in page is excluded by name.
• ImprovedPage titles now match the service names already used on the pages themselves — Life & Disability, Specialty Bill Review, and Health Review — so search results and browser tabs no longer show names the site has stopped using.
• ImprovedThe Client Portal and Reviewer Portal descriptions on the Stradix banner are set at the same size as the paragraph above them, rather than a step smaller.
• FixedTrademark and registered symbols no longer add height to the line they sit on, which had been spacing paragraphs unevenly wherever a marked name appeared.
• ImprovedWho may sign in to edit the site is now managed on the settings screen instead of requiring a developer and a deployment. An invitation is accepted the moment someone signs in, rather than only if they happen to open the administration area, so the list no longer reports that an active editor has not accepted theirs.
• ImprovedEach person's row in the administration area shows what their role actually permits — read, edit content, manage users, change settings — without opening the dropdown to find out.

Visitors now control whether the site loads embedded content, and the map stays disconnected from Google until they allow it. This release also adds the Blog, rebuilds the legal pages for easier reading, and brings a broad round of navigation, contact, service-copy and visual refinements.

• AddedCookie choices with equally prominent accept and reject controls, detailed preferences, and a permanent footer link for changing a decision. The Google map remains unloaded until embedded content is allowed.

The photographs CareReview licensed are now the photographs on the site, in place of the stand-ins used while the files were being sourced. Alongside that, a set of small corrections to headings, trademark symbols and links.

• ImprovedThe photographs CareReview licensed are now the ones on the site — fourteen of them, across Accreditations & Compliance, the Who We Serve pages, the Resources articles and Payment Integrity. Until now those places showed stand-in images chosen to match the same ideas, because the licensed files were not yet available.
• ImprovedTrademark and registered symbols are now the typeface's own characters, each sized and raised to suit its own shape, so they sit correctly against the word they follow instead of riding above it or dropping into the line. They are also read aloud correctly by a screen reader, which a drawn symbol cannot be.

Production

The new site now runs on its own production environment, which is the last piece of groundwork before launch rather than the launch itself: the public address still shows the previous site until the domain is switched over. Alongside that, photography went in across the site, and the Nurse Review service is now represented everywhere it should be.

A working session's worth of content and structure changes, and the contact form fixed. Old website addresses now redirect to their new pages, which matters more than it sounds: without it, every link and search result pointing at the previous site would have stopped working at launch.

Sign-in and admin

The first numbered release, and a heavy day. Editing the site no longer runs on one password shared between everyone who needs it: each person signs in with their own work account, an administrator decides who is on the list, and sign-ins and edits are recorded. Content edited through the CMS can now be exported for release, which was the last missing piece of the path to a public launch. Two new pages went live, and every page now names the version it is running.

• AddedSeparate Health Plans and TPAs pages, split out of the single combined page. The old address redirects, so existing links still work.
• AddedA Long-Term Disability Carriers page, listed in the navigation, the Who We Serve grid and the homepage.

• AddedA button on the page for entering edit mode. Getting in previously meant knowing to type a special suffix onto the web address.
• AddedContent edited through the CMS can now be exported for release, which is the step that carries an edit from the editing site to the public one. Without it a launch would have published the site as it stood on 13 August, missing every content update and every edit made since — including a removed team member still on the leadership page.
• AddedThis release log, and a version stamp in the footer of every page linking to the entry for the version being served.
• ImprovedEditing no longer uses a password shared between everyone who needs it. Each person signs in with their own work account, so access is granted and withdrawn one person at a time.

Someone could previously be added to the list and then be turned away at the sign-in screen, because being allowed onto the list and being allowed in were decided separately.

• FixedTurning editing on filled the page with the raw formatting marks behind every highlighted word. Only the field being typed in shows them now.
• FixedA saved edit did not refresh the page, so a field could snap back to its previous text and look exactly as though the change had been thrown away.
• FixedThe activity log was empty even after signing in, editing and signing out, because two separate records were being kept and only one of them was stored.
• FixedThe site header and footer were being drawn across the administration screens and the sign-in page, which are applications rather than pages.
• FixedThe administration area and the sign-in page were unreachable once deployed, each answering with a permanent “not found” that no amount of correct configuration could clear.
• FixedAn administrator who was not yet signed in was thrown straight into Google’s consent screen, with nothing on it to say where they had been sent or why. They now arrive at the site’s own sign-in page first, and are taken on to the administration area once they have signed in.

A pass over the public site: the values section rebuilt as real text, closing calls to action on the pages that ended without one, and copy brought in line with the approved workbook.
